Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) Test

This simple pain-free test is done in our office by a trained medical assistant to detect peripheral arterial disease. PAD causes reduced blood flow and circulatory problems in the legs. This can be a cause of greater concern because these symptoms may signal more widespread build up in arteries that can impede blood flow to the heart and brain. Early diagnosis with an ABI Test and prompt treatment are important to stop the progression of PAD and reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. Patients who experience pain, tiredness or cramps in the leg when walking should speak to their New Pueblo Medicine physician.
