Alok R. Sharma, MD

Internal Medicine Physician

As a child I wanted to be a doctor so I could help my family when they were sick. As a doctor I aim to treat every patient with the same empathy and care as I would if they were family. It's a privilege to help my patients stay healthy and get well sooner when they’re sick.

Board Certified since 2004

Before joining New Pueblo Medicine, Dr. Sharma spent nearly three years as staff physician at Sunset Community Health Center in Yuma. After training at one of India’s top medical schools in 1988, he joined the Indian Army Medical Corps as a medical officer, serving in its mountain Special Forces’ elite Kumaon Scouts in the western Himalaya border regions of Tibet and Nepal. Dr. Sharma has co-authored articles in medical publications in the United States and Europe, and has participated in NIH-sponsored research into diabetes prevention.
